Robert married Alice Elizabeth Fricke, daughter of Frederick Eberhard Fricke and Eliza Bosley, on 12 Feb 1895 in Richmond, Victoria, Australia. (Alice Elizabeth Fricke was born on 16 Apr 1865 in Harrison's Hill, Carisbrook, Vic., Australia and died in 1946 in Deepdene, Vic., Australia.)

  Marriage Notes:

Alice and Robert appear to have been in a relationship prior to their marriage. three children were born prior to their marriage - two under the Alice's maiden name of Fricke and one under the Humberg name.

The first illegitimate child, Alice Hilda Elizabeth.... (b.1893) was given the faimily name of Humberg even though the birth certificate records the father's name as 'unknwon'. (a fit of pique on Alice's part?.)

The subsequent two children Clarice Paisley ...(b.1887) and Grace Alma ... (b.1895) were both given Alice's family name of Fricke. Birth certificates for both record the father's name as 'unknown'.

It appears that all three illegitimate children were fathered by Robert Garfield Humberg.
