Hillhouse Farm Colva, Tennant Farmer. The farm was owned by his wife's father who was from Pool Farm, Llanfiangle Nant Melom .
John in 1802 went on to form a farm called Hurston Farm in Pembridge.

BDM information courtesy of genealogist Grenville Davies who also provides the following information:
"When he died on 2/03/1850 the church records give his age as 83 putting his birth at 1767, however, on the grave in Colva church his age is poorly defined and could be 81 or even 84. Clearly it is therefore difficult to be precise on his birth but it would probably be 1768 +/- 1.
He is buried in the same grave as his wife Sarah.
